Part-Time Clerical/Secretarial Position
The Lake County Farm Bureau currently has an opening for a
part-time (3-day a week 8:30am-5pm) clerical position from August 4, 2008 -
November 31, 2008. Candidates should have excellent communication/customer
service skills, computer skills with proficiency in Word and Access required and
be well organized. Ideal candidates should be comfortable working with a small
staff and be able to work well with others.
Duties will include: Answering phones, greeting visitors, filing, data entry,
mail sorting and other clerical duties as needed.
The Lake County Farm Bureau is located in Grayslake, Illinois (Lake County)
approximately 45 miles North of Chicago and 20 miles South of Kenosha, WI with
easy access off I94.

There is a possibility the position may be extended past November 31. Hourly
wage is $9.00 per hour with NO BENEFITS being offered.

Although the scenery of Lake County continues to change as more and more residential subdivisions and commercial locations continue to spring up, agriculture still plays an important role in our county.
Farming, and agriculture production in general, may not be as visually prominent in Lake County’s communities as it once was, but it still serves as an important financial asset to us all, and also helps to provide a glimpse of the history, and heritage of our area.
The following are some of the highlights from the 2002 Census of Agriculture for Lake County:
There are 337 farms in Lake County…156 principal occupation and 181 part time
Farmland accounts for 38,860 acres in Lake County
The total value of all agricultural products produced in Lake County is $28,259,000
Lake County has over $18,500,000 in annual sales of nursery, greenhouse, and floriculture and sod, which is the sixth most for a county in Illinois
As a county, Lake County sells the second highest volume of horses throughout the state with a total annual value of $1,761,000
Lake County ranks 19th in the state in production of vegetables and melons with $1,365,000 in sales annually
Who says there is no farming in Lake County!
